Intel mira all'avvio in 2 secondi con Moblin

Concordo con Intel che avviare un sistema basato su Linux in due secondi è un fattore determinante per il mercato embedded.

Se poi da questo impegno di Intel derivasse qualche vantaggio anche per l'avvio delle nostre distro sui desktop... non credo che ci farebbe schifo.

Tests of the latest Moblin 2 alpha release show that the major components of the stack, including the graphics system, can start up in mere seconds. Intel intends to build on this effort and hopes to eventually reduce total startup time to two seconds. Achieving this ambitious goal while still retaining the full software stack will be an important step for making Moblin an appropriate platform for embedded car computers and many other embedded applications where the software needs to be seamless and instantly accessible. "We think that two second boot is possible," Sousou declared during his presentation.

    Anche Scott James Remnant, incaricato da Canonical di velocizzare il boot Ubuntu, sta sfruculiando alacremente nel codice di Moblin per capire come hanno fatto a velocizzare il boot.

    quel metodo che sto testando anche io sulla mia Arch è però unn derivato da Xandros non da Moblin....Cmq veramente prestazioni eccellenti....

    Anzi, ora che mi torna in mente: la distribuzione su cui è stato sviluppato non è Xandros, ma Fedora.
