Interessante il lavoro sul raggruppamento degli «extender» delle notifiche in Plasma, che adesso guadagnano il supporto alle icone.Questa parte di Plasma aveva (e ha) bisogno di molte attenzioni, ottimo!
Last week I’ve spent some time on adding grouping support to extenders, and laid the foundation for grouping jobs in the plasma systemtray.
The grouping support for extenders is accomplished through the new ExtenderGroup class. ExtenderGroup is a subclass of ExtenderItem that adds an expand/collapse button to show or hide all ExtenderItems that belong to this group. You can add ExtenderItems to a group by calling setGroup on the items.

Prima di tutto vorrei he fosse chiaro che al momento non c’è nessuno da difendere… Forse :DBM, NEC, Novell, Philips, Red Hat e Sony sono attualmente unite in openinventionnetwork.com per sostenere Linux in eventuali contese o minacce riguardanti il perverso meccanismo dei brevetti software. Diciamo che sono una specie di assicurazione ;)
Alla TomTom non hanno connesso l’entrata della azienda in OIN con i recenti sviluppi della vicenda Microsoft vs TomTom. Ma ci pensiamo noi a farlo :P

that TomTom has signed up. There’s no mention of the Microsoft litigation,
but clearly that has to be a motivating factor; it suggests that OIN may
get involved in that case. “‘Linux plays an important role at TomTom
as the core of all our Portable Navigation Devices,’ said Peter Spours,
director of IP at TomTom. ‘We believe that by becoming an Open Invention
Network licensee, we encourage Linux development and foster innovation in a
technical community that benefits everyone.’”

Lo sto usando in questo momento.Se non sapessi che è un nuova versione… non noto nessuna differenza con quella di Intrepid :) Magari però torna utile a qualche curioso sperimentatore.

libchamplain Map Widget, il Marble di GNOME

Un map widget condiviso per GNOME, proprio come fa Marble per KDE, questo è libchamplain (dios mio che nome…).Già per GNOME 2.28 dovrebbe/potrebbe ufficialmente diventare una dipendenza esterna di Empathy, EoG, F-Spot e tutte le altre app che hanno necessità di un controllo per la geolocalizzazione. Ottima notizia!
libchamplain is a map widget for your application. I selected a list of bugs and features that needs to be fixed before a 0.4 release is made. Such a release will happen before Gnome 2.28 as I plan to ask to be an external dependency (as Empathy, Eog-plugin and f-spot will have use for it). The list of bugs is listed in on the mailling list.
Libchamplain is part of Gnome’s Google Summer of Code. There are already some libchamplain ideas.

Celeste Paul ha reso pubblici i risultati del KDE Usability Project meeting del 18 marzo.Ci sono tante piccole interessanti novità relative a dettagli ergonomici da sistemare sparsi per tutto KDE: il tasto super che non lancia Kickoff, il poco intuitivo dialogo salva password di Konqueror, le azioni comuni come «vuota cestino» poco visibili, la riorganizzazione dei pulsanti in KWin, ecc.
Ero abituato ad attenzioni del genere in GNOME, ma adesso KDE mi stupisce anche in questo campo. CELESTE, GUIDA LA MARCIA SU PLASMA!!! :-D
This month’s KDE Usability Project meeting was held March 18 at 20:00 UTC in #kde-usability. It lasted for 2 hours. The meeting’s theme was “usability bugs”, and we reviewed a handful of bugs that were posted to the meeting page.
